Enfield Aquatic Centre Redevelopment & Last Laps Community Celebration

Enfield Aquatic Centre, 8 Portland Street, Enfield
The Enfield Aquatic Centre Redevelopment will transform Sydney’s oldest freshwater Olympic pool into a contemporary, state-of-the-art aquatic and recreation destination.
 
Supported by $54 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, the project will modernise the Centre to enhance accessibility, functionality and year-round use, ensuring it continues to serve Burwood’s growing and diverse community.
 
As we prepare for this existing next chapter, we invite you to join us as we celebrate the legacy of our much-loved and historic 50 metre outdoor pool at the Last Laps Community Celebration.
 
Take a final dip in Sydney’s oldest freshwater Olympic pool, enjoy a day of family-friendly activities, and share your favourite memories of the Enfield Aquatic Centre.
 
Event Highlights

  • Free community BBQ hosted by the Rotary Club of Burwood
  • Step back in time with Professor Peabody's Puppet Show inspired by classic seaside theatre

2026 National Awards for Local Government - Voting is Now Open!
We are proud to announce that Burwood Council has been nominated for two outstanding initiatives in this year’s National Awards for Local Government.
 
These nominations reflect our position as Sydney’s Cultural Playground:
  • Ford Lane: From Laneway to Live Music Destination (Arts and Culture Category).
  • Burwood Lunar Lanes 2026: A City United Through Culture, Connection and Community (Cohesive Communities Category).

The National Awards provide a valuable opportunity to showcase Burwood’s innovation and leadership. Winners are determined by public vote, with results to be announced in June 2026.
